CFUW AGM 2023, Delegate Report

The CFUW AGM 2023 was a virtual event July 7-9th 2023. The theme was “ Embrace Change and Embrace Equality”, a fitting theme as we move forward 104 years later.

The AGM was a great success! The following measures contributed to the success of the AGM:

The ON Site Planning Team of 7 CFUW members including 3 new staff members.

The programme presentations by CFUW Clubs, members, committee chairs and others.

Seven Pre AGM  workshops and 2 voter training clinics for delegates and open to all CFUW members

Outstanding speakers, Dr Carla Koppel, “Democracy: Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality: Exploring the Connections and Arielle Bieniek, a third year medical student, working on 2  post graduate degrees, winner of the  CFUW Indigenous Scholarship. Her research is related to improving the health of women and prenatal babies in stress.  Arielle is a Northern Ontario woman, grew up in Whitefish outside of Sudbury, attended Laurentian University as an undergrad and plans to practice in  Northern Ontario.

The presentation of the new CFUW LOGO and Branding materials

The Awards presentations: CFUW North Bay received a membership  recognition certificate or a 10 % increase in new members.

Five of the six Resolutions were adopted.

Special Events included the Opening Ceremonies and Social, the Charitable Trust Brunch, and the Awards ceremonies

Great opportunities to meet our National President Joy Hurst,  National office Staff, Jaime Beagin, Executive Director, Elizabeth Malcolm, Member Services Coordinator and Paige Inglis, Advocacy Coordinator. The three office staff are all newcomers!
