Past Fundraising Projects for Scholarships (2000-2022)

Our scholarship fund provides scholarships and bursaries for local girls attending Nipissing University, Canadore College, and Near North secondary schools.  Members donate individually directly to our scholarship fund and participate in fund-raising events such as those described below.  

For many years the silent auction at the November meeting raised money for the scholarships.  For this auction members donated items and services, as well as canvassing local businesses for donations. Our last auction was held in November 2019.

In July of 2012 and again in July 2014, we held a garden tour in partnership with the North Bay Grandmothers for Africa.  As well as seven or eight gardens, the tours featured music provided by musicians from the North Bay Symphony and displays of art and photography by local artists. 

From 2016 to 2019 July socials, all with different themes, raised significant funds for the scholarship fund thanks to three creative members. 

Another joint scholarship fundraiser with the North Bay Grandmothers for Africa was the May 2019 Toronto Welsh Male Choir concert.

A members-only garden tour  raised more money for scholarships in July 2020.
