Scholarships and Bursaries

Our scholarship fund provides scholarships and bursaries for local female students attending Nipissing University, Canadore College, and local secondary schools.  Below you will find details about these scholarships and bursaries funded by the members of the club.

Members donate annually to the scholarship fund and hold fundraisers often involving other partners and members from the North Bay community.  The link below will take you to information and photos about CFUW North Bay’s past fundraisers from the 1940s to 2023.

In addition to awards funded by CFUW members every year, our club received the funds for a new scholarship in 2022.  Mr. William Walton donated $15,000 in memory of his wife Dr. Diana Walton, who was on the faculty of Nipissing University.  As a result of this generous donation, for the next fifteen years beginning in 2022-23, CFUW will be presenting a worthy recipient attending Nipissing University with a $1000 scholarship.

You can read more about the Dr. Diana Walton Scholarship and the special media event on September 16, 2022, that launched it by using the links below.

The first Dr. Diana Walton Scholarship was presented to Kennedy Bond in March 2023. View her photo and thank-you letter by using the link below.

Below is a list of the scholarships and bursaries we give each year in addition to the Dr. Diana Walton Scholarship.  You will find the names of the winners reported each year by our scholarship chairs in their annual reports (available through links from the Information for Membership tab at the top of the page).

Nipissing University provides an impressive brochure just for CFUW North Bay’s awards.  Check out the cover and awards list for 2022-23 and 2023-24 naming the recipients.
